Let's talk about New Car delivery times

You might have heard a few rumours, so we're here to clear things up.

We believe in being transparent with our customers. As the new car industry struggles to to return to pre-lockdown levels of production, we are still seeing very long lead times on new car deliveries. This is universal across all manufacturers and not unique to Kia.

As it stands, we have a very small selection of models available for delivery in the next 3 months. Beyond that, we are looking at at least 6 months before your vehicle will land in the UK - with some models and specifications facing a 9 month+ waiting time.

What does this mean for you? Put simply - think ahead.
Why has new car production slowed?
Unfortunately, a perfect storm of events has battered the new car industry:
- COVID-19 led to lockdowns globally - impacting our ability to keep both factories and showrooms open.
- Manufacturers slowed or cancelled new car production, due to showrooms being closed. Unfortunately, when we restarted production, we were now competing for semi-conductors and parts used in mobile phones, tablets, laptops, games consoles, TVs - all of which had increased production numbers during lockdown.
- Semi-conductors continue to be elusive. Used in our infotainment units, engine management systems and throughout your car, microchips can only be made in dedicated factories, completely free of static and dust. These factories are currently struggling to meet demand. The average ICE car houses 100-150 microchips, with EV models using up to 3,000!
- Many of the raw materials used in electric and hybrid technologies are sourced in the Ukraine and Russia regions. It is becoming increasingly hard (and expensive) to source the materials we need.
Should I wait until new car production improves?

Our manufacturers are advising that the current new car production issues are expected to continue for at least 12 months, with it being likely that this becomes the new-normal.

Part and materials are still very difficult to source. Until this improves, we expect the price of new cars to continue to rise. By thinking ahead and placing your order early, you could save on a potential price increase down the road.
New car customers

If you have a finance agreement due to end in the next 12 months, don't wait. Talk to us now. It could be that your next Kia has 9 month+ delivery time and placing an order now may secure you the car you want in your chosen specification and colour. If your finance is due to end before your new car arrives... don't panic! We offer the option of extending your finance agreement where a new car order is in place.
