Charging times can depend on both th battery size and the charging point. Slow Charger (up to 3kw), Fast chargers (7-22kw), Rapid chargers (43-120kw), Super chargers (150kw).

Are charging stations free to use?

Some public charging stations are free to use, however the rapid chargers available at service stations and the like are usually chargable. You can subscribe to charging services nationwide for even better value charging. A typical electric car (60kw battery/200 mile range) will cost you around £9 to charge at home, most work places that have installed electric chargers will offer free charging as will public charge points at supermarkets/car parks. Rapid charging points will usually cost under £10 for a 30 min charge (100 mile range) and will most commonly be found at motorway service stations.

Do all electric vehicles use the same plug?

No, most EVs will be supplied with 2 charging cables. A mode 2 charging cable which is used for connecting your car to an ordinary domestic socket (3 pin plug) for at-home charging, and a Mode 3 charging cable which will connect your car to the charging station.

Can I get funding toward a home charging point?

Yes, the government do offer a grant to install a charge point at home. Please ask about current availability.

Kia Corporation has reveiled its highly anticipated Kia EV9, the brand’s dedicated battery electric SUV. The Kia EV9 flagship SUV is set to accelerate the company’s transformation into a sustainable mobility solutions provider in the era of electrification.

The video also previews the Kia EV9’s unique blend of sleek and sculptural design and confident and assertive geometry.

The name, EV9, comes from Kia's EV nomenclature, pairing the prefix ‘EV’ (electric vehicle) with the number ‘9’ (nine), which represents the model’s segment among Kia’s dedicated electric vehicle line-up.

Like the Kia EV6, the Kia EV9 is built upon the company’s dedicated battery electric vehicle platform, Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
Kia EV9: WhatCar? 2023 Readers’ Choice Award

The Kia EV9 was voted winner of the ‘Readers’ Choice’ award. This trophy is voted for by What Car? readers, who named the upcoming EV9 as their most highly anticipated new car of 2023.

“We asked What Car? readers to name the upcoming model that they're most excited about from a 14-car shortlist, with each of the contenders given equal promotion via our website and social media channels. But despite this, the Kia EV9 emerged victorious after attracting more than twice as many votes as the second-placed car.

The Kia EV9 is due to be revealed later in 2023, with UK deliveries set to commence towards the end of the year. The large electric SUV is the next EV due to be launched under the brand’s ‘Plan S’ long-term strategy for electrification leadership. It follows the Kia EV6 (named What Car? Car of the Year in 2022) and all-new Kia Niro EV as one of nine Kia EVs due to launch in the UK between 2021 and 2027.

From the outside, the proportions help outline a three-row SUV footprint, signifying a electric concept vehicle that is highly capable, practical and ready for action. From the side, the modernistic angular profile gives the all-electric concept car a simple but distinctive outline.
EV9’s extensive tech capabilities and all-round flexibility ensures that it feels at home when tackling traffic in densely populated urban areas. At the same time, it offers families the freedom to experience leisure activities away from the city centre. Solar panels built into the car help you go further and see more before you need to change.
The EV9 Concept has been carefully crafted to offer you and your passengers a transformative interior space with the focus on wellbeing and mindfulness. An innovative panoramic roof car, the EV9 also captures more natural light and scenery, creating a new level of comfort for sustainable cars.
Kia’s iconic Tiger nose facade has been reinterpreted for the BEV era and is showcased on the Kia EV9 Concept.

Contrasting with its muscular on-road presence, soft and welcoming curves across the body of the EV9 Concept are offset with sharp and neatly edged elements. Solid rock geometry is expressed through sophisticated design, while the spacious cabin has been made to feel welcoming and approachable.
