Celebrating 25 years of RJTK
  • This March, we celebrate 25 years of RJTK

It was in March 1998 that Robin Wilson opened the doors to his own dealership for the very first time. Having proved himself as a competent general manager for many years, he had been approached by Vauxhall to help launch a new dealership in Scunthorpe. It was on that day that Wilson & Co Vauxhall was born. After impressing the team at Vauxhall, Robin was entrusted with the challenge of building a Grimsby Market Area, including new dealerships in Immingham and Grimsby. By 2004, Robin made the leap over the pennines, and invested in the Bolton Market Area, bringing two more Vauxhall dealerships under the Wilson & Co umbrella.

Now nurturing a thriving Vauxhall group, Robin had his sights set on something new. In February of that year, he cut the ribbon on his first Kia dealership in Boston, which would trade under the name of Drayton Motors. Robin knew he needed someone he could trust to forge forward with his new venture - and so he invited Darren Bradford to take the helm at the new Kia business in South Lincolnshire. As the Drayton Motors brand grew more and more popular, new opportunities presented themselves to Robin. Before long, the Drayton Motors Kia brand spread its wings to Louth and later, in 2021, the brand acquired Victor Wood Kia in Grantham. Last year, in 2022, Drayton Motors arrived in Scunthorpe, adding a 4th successful Kia dealership to the now 10-site-strong RJTK Automotive Group.

  • But it's not just Vauxhall and Kia that make up the RJTK family. Autohub, our used car dealership in Louth, has been successfully uniting quality-preloved vehicles with new owners since early 2022. It also shares a site with our environmentally-conscious commercial brand, MAXUS, which is converting dirty diesel van users into EV lovers, one-by-one. In February 2022, the RJTK group acquired its first Suzuki dealership in Boston, after acquiring the reputable local dealership, Cropleys Suzuki.

The last few years have seen a flurry of growth for the RJTK Automotive brand. Darren Bradford has risen to the challenge of Group Automotive Director and now Tom and Katie Wilson, Robin and Janet's children, have joined the family business, too. Robin Wilson's family-owned business has successfully weathered several economic crises and even an unprecedented pandemic but continues to thrive to this day.

Here's to another successful 25 years in this crazy motor trade!
