Charging times can depend on both th battery size and the charging point. Slow Charger (up to 3kw), Fast chargers (7-22kw), Rapid chargers (43-120kw), Super chargers (150kw).

Are charging stations free to use?

Some public charging stations are free to use, however the rapid chargers available at service stations and the like are usually chargable. You can subscribe to charging services nationwide for even better value charging. A typical electric car (60kw battery/200 mile range) will cost you around £9 to charge at home, most work places that have installed electric chargers will offer free charging as will public charge points at supermarkets/car parks. Rapid charging points will usually cost under £10 for a 30 min charge (100 mile range) and will most commonly be found at motorway service stations.

Do all electric vehicles use the same plug?

No, most EVs will be supplied with 2 charging cables. A mode 2 charging cable which is used for connecting your car to an ordinary domestic socket (3 pin plug) for at-home charging, and a Mode 3 charging cable which will connect your car to the charging station.

Can I get funding toward a home charging point?

VAUXHALL IS THE UK’S BEST-SELLING ELECTRIC VAN MANUFACTURER

Vauxhall has strengthened its position as the UK’s best-selling electric Light Commercial Vehicle (e-LCV) manufacturer, according to the latest registration figures issued by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

The Vivaro Electric and Combo Electric were the first and second best-selling electric vans (e-LCVs) in the UK in February, building on the momentum Vauxhall has built over the last two years in this rapidly growing market. Vauxhall was the UK’s best-selling e-LCV manufacturer in 2022 and remains the best-selling manufacturer year-to-date 2023.

The Vivaro Electric was the UK’s best-selling electric van this February, with 264 registered in the month, and remains the country’s best-selling e-LCV in 2023. In addition, the Combo Electric was the second-best selling e-LCV with 115 registered in February, meaning Vauxhall-badged electric vans held the top two positions in the sales charts this month.

With such a strong performance, Vauxhall has captured 25.6% of the e-LCV market in the UK so far in 2023. The brand’s success stems from being only one of few manufacturers offering an electric version across its entire line-up, providing fleets and businesses with an electric van to suit a wide variety of needs. Vauxhall will be an electric-only manufacturer from 2028.

James Taylor, Managing Director, Vauxhall, said: “We expect the electric van market to continue growing this year on the back of two years of brilliant success for Vauxhall in this segment. More and more businesses are switching to electric to reduce overheads and costs, as well as to reduce their carbon footprint. Available in three different chassis configurations, a 50kWh battery enables a maximum range of 175 miles (WTLP) with 100kW rapid charging capability.
