VAUXHALL REVEALS NEW COMBO AND COMBO ELECTRIC

Vauxhall has revealed details of the new Combo compact van. The New Combo features Vauxhall’s bold and pure Vizor front end and an upgraded interior, first-in-class lighting technology, while drivers of the new Combo Electric will benefit from a range of up to 205 miles (WLTP), an increase of 17% over the current model.

  • The new Vauxhall Combo is available in two trim levels, Prime and Pro, and with electric and diesel powertrains, with the latter offering a choice of manual and automatic transmissions. Both versions of the new Combo are available in two lengths, with a choice of two or three front seats. The new Combo is additionally offered as a five-seat Crew Cab.

Prices for the New Combo start at £20,850 (exc. VAT) for diesel variants. The New Combo Electric starts from £28,550 (exc. VAT), representing a saving of £4,450 over the outgoing model.

Bold & Pure design with Vauxhall Vizor

The New Combo will come with Vauxhall’s bold and pure Vizor front end. First seen on the Mokka, the Combo is the first LCV to get the distinctive design signature that has become characteristic of the brand’s latest generation of models.

The Vizor is composed of a single smooth panel that sits between the LED headlights, housing Vauxhall’s advanced driver aids and safety technologies, with the new Griffin logo at its centre.

The new Combo Pro variant is not only the first Vauxhall LCV to be equipped with adaptive, glare-free Intelli-Lux LED® Matrix Light, it is also the first in its segment to have this technology. Its matrix headlamps, comprised of 14 LED elements, automatically cut out oncoming road users from its beam, ensuring drivers have a clear view of the road without dazzling other road users.

    Next-generation powertrain technology

In addition to optimum night-time vision, the new Vauxhall Combo Electric also offers an extended driving range. With a choice of Eco, Normal and Power driving modes, the New Combo Electric can travel up to 205 miles on a single charge of its new 50kWh battery (WLTP combined cycle), 30 miles further than its predecessor. This is made possible by further development of the all-electric drivetrain and – for the first time in the Combo – a highly efficient heat pump that helps to conserve battery range in low temperatures.

Powered by an electric motor developing 100kW / 136hp and 270Nm of torque, the New Combo Electric can reach a top speed of 81mph. The New Combo Electric comes with a 7.4kW on-board charger as standard (a 11 kW charger is optional), and the battery can be recharged from 0-80% in less than 30 minutes at a 100kW public charging station.

The New Vauxhall Combo Electric offers next-generation efficiency without compromising its ability to transport and tow heavy loads. Like its predecessor, the new all-electric compact van continues to offer up to 4.4 cubic metres of storage space (the same as its combustion engine siblings), while the 780kg payload and the 750kg towing capacity are both best-in-class.

    New interior and safety technologies

Inside, the New Combo features an upgraded infotainment system with Vauxhall’s latest-generation user interface. At Pro trim level, the New Combo is the first LCV to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit Platform*, which uses Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the interior has an upgraded 10-inch touchscreen and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™.

Alternatively, Prime variants of the Combo are available with an innovative smartphone station, which allows the driver to use their smartphone to control the vehicle’s infotainment panel, also interacting with the steering wheel buttons. In the new Combo Electric, paddles behind the all-new steering wheel enable the driver to select three levels of intensity for the regenerative braking system, designed to conserve driving range.

The Combo is equipped with an extensive suite of up to 18 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including Intelligent Speed Assistance, Lane Keeping Assist, Advanced Emergency Braking and Driver Attention Alert, while Adaptive Cruise Control is also available as an option. The Pro variant of the new Combo also features Dynamic Surround Vision, which allows the driver to view an image of the rear and of the side blind spot while on the move, both displayed in the new high-definition digital rear-view mirror.

Rear parking sensors, automatic headlight control and a comfort driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment are also included as standard, while Pro versions are fitted with power folding door mirrors, a load-through bulkhead and dual-passenger bench with underseat storage for greater convenience. Black door mirror caps and side mouldings with 16-inch wheel trims complete the offering on Pro trim.

James Taylor, Managing Director, Vauxhall, said: “Vauxhall is the UK’s leading electric van brand and this latest iteration of Combo will build on that success thanks to its increased range, bold design and upgraded technology and interior, and we are proud that it will be manufactured at our Ellesmere Port facility here in the UK.”

Technologically advanced, spacious and practical, the New Vauxhall Combo is a convincing choice for professionals in the market for a capable compact van. The new all-electric Combo combines the power and practicality of its ICE siblings with zero-emissions-in-use efficiency.

Sales of the New Combo and Combo Electric are scheduled to start by the end of this year.  Full specification and pricing details for the full line-up will be announced close to the start of ordering.
