VAUXHALL UPDATES ASTRA RANGE AND ADDS NEW ULTIMATE TRIM FOR ASTRA

Vauxhall has opened order books for Astra Sports Tourer Ultimate variants, available in both petrol and efficient Plug-in Hybrid powertrains. Prices for Astra Sports Tourer Ultimate models start from £33,765 OTR.

  • Vauxhall has also updated the Astra with new technologies and exterior details, as well as revising the powertrain selection to align with customer demand.

Astra Sports Tourer Ultimate orders opened

Ultimate variants improve on existing Astra Sports Tourer GS models by adding IntelliLux adaptive LED® pixel headlights, Lane Change Assist with Side Blind Spot Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert technologies.

Also included standard on Ultimate models is heated ergonomic active sports-style front seats in Alcantara® trim, which have been certified by AGR (Campaign for Healthier Backs). Intelli-HUD (Head-Up Display) and wireless charging for smartphones improves convenience. Exterior upgrades include 18-inch grey diamond-cut alloy wheels and high gloss black roof rails, with the tailgate now powered for ease of access. A panoramic sunroof also improves cabin ambiance.

For reference, sporty GS variants come standard with 17-inch black alloy wheels, a black Griffin logo and Vizor frame and black roof and headliner. Inside, GS models come with Vauxhall’s Multimedia Pure Panel Navigation system and Intelli-Vision 360-degree Panoramic Parking Camera. Driver assist technologies include Forward Collision Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control with Intelligent Speed Adaptation and Traffic Sign Recognition, while comfort features include heated front seats and a heated steering wheel and Keyless Entry & Start.

    Astra range updates

Alongside the introduction of Ultimate variants to the Astra Sports Tourer line-up, Vauxhall has made several updates to the Astra range.

Intelli-Drive 2.0 technology will now be offered as standard on Ultimate Plug-in Hybrid and petrol auto variants as well as GSe models, across both Astra and Astra Sports Tourer. Replacing Intelli-Drive, Intelli-Drive 2.0 features Vauxhall’s most advanced and intuitive driver assist technologies not seen on the previous iteration of Intelli-Drive, including Advanced Intelligent Speed Adaptation, which monitors both road signs and weather conditions to adjust the vehicle speed.

Also added is Semi Automated Lane Change which works at speeds between 45mph and 70mph, with the driver able to instruct the vehicle to change lanes, conditions permitting.

Technology already included within the Intelli-Drive package includes Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which uses radars on the rear bumpers to detect moving objects to the rear sides of the vehicle, such as cars or motorcycles manoeuvring in a car park, and alerting the driver when reversing.

In line with recent market trends, Vauxhall is also removing the 1.5 130PS EAT8 diesel option from its Astra line-up, meaning the Astra is now solely available in the UK market as a petrol or Plug-in Hybrid vehicle, with Astra Electric soon to be added. Existing customer orders for diesel variants will be built. This change also means that Grandland is now the only Vauxhall passenger car that offers a diesel variant.

Astra Design models will also see the chrome Vizor frame and lower bumper stripes replaced to a high gloss black variant, the same seen on GS variants, further enhancing the look of the car.
