Wilson & Co helps motorists to stay safe this autumn
Autumn brings with it many hazards to tackle whilst driving. Whether it’s the glaring low sun, damp and wet conditions, leaves on the road, variations in visibility; the season is filled with driving challenges. And, as the nights have already begun to draw in, we also find ourselves spending more time driving in the dark.
  • Autumn brings with it many hazards to tackle whilst driving. Whether it’s the glaring low sun, damp and wet conditions, leaves on the road, variations in visibility; the season is filled with driving challenges. And, as the nights have already begun to draw in, we also find ourselves spending more time driving in the dark.

With a study* of seasonal patterns revealing there were 10 per cent more collisions in the four weeks after the clocks go back compared to the four weeks before they change, Wilson & Co is highlighting how today’s cars include many automated features which can help motorists drive safer.

Take for example the IntelliLux LED matrix headlights, which is available on the latest Astra and the Insignia. The feature enables drivers to maintain a permanent high beam, without dazzling other road users. This allows carriage way hazards to be noticed before they appear in the light cone of normal headlights. The intelligent lighting technology recognises traffic and simply fades it out.

What’s more, the new Crossland X is also available with a new pack of optional safety equipment to help motorists drive safer. This includes Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, which monitors the traffic situation in front of the vehicle with the front camera and is able to detect mobile and stationary cars as well as pedestrians. The system sounds an alarm, gives a visual warning and also brakes automatically if the distance to a vehicle or a pedestrian ahead decreases rapidly and the driver does not react. Similar technology is also available in other Vauxhall models including the Astra, Grandland X and Insignia.

Robin Wilson, Managing Director at Wilson & Co, comments: “Whilst you may think that winter is the most dangerous season for drivers, there are also many risks that come with autumnal driving. We take the safety of our customers very seriously here at Wilson & Co, which is why we’re proud to offer the latest in technology to reduce the risk of an accident at this time of year.

“Vauxhall has always strived to make technological innovations affordable and accessible, and the IntelliLux LED Matrix lighting available on the Astra and Insignia is a great example of this. The optional safety equipment available on the Crossland X also marks an exciting time for us, as the technology in our Vauxhalls continues to evolve and advance further.

“These features truly enhance the safety for the driver and those around them, making it perfect to tackle the driving hazards the new season will bring. So if you’re interested in purchasing a new Vauxhall, then please pop into our dealership and see what we can do for you.”
